The immense relevance of climate change and sustainable development and ONGC’s efforts in GHG accounting, carbon disclosure, carbon dioxide capture and sequestration, CDM projects, methane to market and curbing fugitive emissions were highlighted by Shri A. K. Hazarika, Director (Onshore) as well as Director (Incharge), HSE and Head of Carbon Management Group, ONGC and a member of PetroFed Governing Council while chairing a guest lecture on the eve of World Environment Day on June 4, 2010 at New Delhi.
Organised under PetroFed’s series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership Programmes, the lecture on ‘Transition Towards Low Carbon Economy’ was delivered by Mr. Dipankar Ghosh, Partner, Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Ernst & Young Pvt. Ltd., a member company of PetroFed.
Mr. Dipankar Ghosh, with over two decades’ experience in energy management and climate change projects, brilliantly brought out the Indian regulatory landscape on climate change including the National Action Plan and the response of Indian corporates to the evolving policies.
An intense Q&A session demonstrated the keen interest aroused in the subject. The United Nations has declared 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity. This year’s theme for World Environment Day is “Many Species. One Planet. One Future”.
