With easy availability of oil being a thing of the past and continually rising investments in E&P, the optimization of asset operations and maintenance has become critical. Stating this, Session Chairman, Mr. Sudhir Vasudeva, Director (Offshore) and Director (I/C), Marketing and JVs of ONGC brought out the importance of automated operations.
Mr. Vasudeva was chairing a talk in PetroFed’s series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership Programmes by Mr. Stephane Lauzon, SAP’s Global Director for Upstream on Operations Performance Management in Upstream on May 4, 2010 at New Delhi. Responsible globally for SAP’s solutions to address the needs of its upstream oil & gas customers Mr. Lauzon was on a brief visit to India. A Six Sigma certified professional engineer, Mr. Lauzon handled the subject clinically addressing issues of automated data collection from field systems, functional linkage of equipment, integrated production and maintenance plans and role based reporting and analytics.
The interest aroused on the subject was evident from the extended Q&A session.
