LNG Market

In a brilliant extempore inaugural address the Chief Guest Dr. A.K. Balyan, CEO & MD, Petronet LNG traced the growth of natural gas consumption in India with estimations for the future LNG Market at a focussed half-day seminar on ‘Emerging Tightness in LNG Market : Implications for India’ organized by PetroFed in knowledge partnership with member company, PFC Energy, USA and support from Petronet LNG Ltd. on May 04, 2011 at New Delhi.

The dynamics of change and the geopolitical conditions in the Middle East were admirably analysed by Mr. Fareed Mohamedi, Partner and Head of Markets & Countries, PFC Energy while bringing out their impact on key projects and supplies.

Welcoming participants earlier, Mr. A.K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed pointed out that the natural gas market is expected to tighten in the near term and that the steady increase in crude oil to natural gas price ratio makes natural gas a preferred fuel as compared to oil.

In the key session on ‘Gas After Crisis Years’ chaired by Mr. Suresh Mathur, Director, GSPC, presentations were made by Ms. Natalie Bravo, Senior Analyst, Upstream & Gas, PFC Energy, Mr. David Mullins, Manager, Upstream & Gas, PFC Energy and Ms. Gauri Jauhar, Senior Consultant, Upstream & Gas, PFC Energy.  Ms. Bravo analysed the drivers behind the tightening market in the medium-term while Mr. Mullins dwelt on the growth of unconventional gas.  Ms. Gauri Jauhar presented the relevance of the changes taking place for India.  There was active floor participation from over four score senior executives present.
