CEOs & Directors’ Conclave

Lauding the leadership of Union Ministers, Mr. Murli Deora and Mr. Jitin Prasada and the stellar role played by the Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. S. Sundareshan in the recent oil price reforms, Chairman, PetroFed, Mr. Sarthak Behuria expressed the hope that the process will continue and all petroleum products would have market determined prices.  Welcoming CEOs and Directors to the ‘World Energy Review’ by Mr. Christof Ruehl, Group Chief Economist, BP Plc on July 5, 2010 at New Delhi Mr. Behuria hoped for a fair deal from Government in the forthcoming GST and DTC also.

Organised by PetroFed in knowledge partnership with BP India the annual event was chaired by Mr. R. S. Sharma, CMD, ONGC  since the Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. S. Sundareshan was unable to attend because of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by opposition parties.  During his inaugural address, Mr. Sharma requested Mr. Behuria to co-chair the session and proposed to PetroFed and BP to organise such a review twice per year.

Mr. Christof Ruehl in a detailed presentation analysed the global energy scenario during 2009 fuel by fuel and also talked of projections.

Despite the ‘Bharat Bandh’ there were 41 participants from 24 organisations of which 16 were from the private sector and three from Government besides five PSUs.  There was an intense Q&A session after Mr. Ruehl’s presentation.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sashi Mukundan, Country Head, BP India.
