In its continuing endeavour to enhance and upgrade knowledge of teaching faculty, the Petroleum federation of India in its series of Industry Academia Interface, organised a four-day residential workshop on ‘Technology Imperatives for Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas’ jointly with Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC)  and  Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust (LKMT) at Kaziranga, Assam from March17-20,2010.

The 26 teaching faculty from 11 institutes of four North Eastern  States attended 18 technical sessions imparted by experts in oil & gas and were also taken on a day’s field study tour of a Drilling Site and a Production Installation.

Inaugurating the workshop, Shri A k Hazarika, Director(Onshore) ONGC and Member PetroFed Governing Council, highlighted the growing importance of updated knowledge  in the challenging E&P business since the era of easy oil was over. The other speakers included Dr Tarun Chakraborti, GGM, ONGC Academy; Shri S Chaudhury, GM, A&AA Basin, ONGC; Dr P. S. V.  Rao, ED, Assam Assest, ONGC and Shri S L Das, Director (BD&C) PetroFed.

Delivering the valedictory address, Shri Anand kumar, Director(R&D), IndianOil and Trustee, LKMT called for sabbatical exchanges between industry and academia for continuous updation of knowledge and sought proposals from academia for collaborative research.

The participats rated the programme effectiveness at 85%.
