In its continuing series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership Programmes, PetroFed organised a Lecture on ‘Evolution of Composite Repairs for Pipelines’ by Shri Amitabh Sharma, President, Asterix Consulting, Inc. Atlanta, USA on February 22, 2008 at the PetroFed Conference Hall, New Delhi.
 
Chairing the session, Shri S. N. Jha, President (EPC), Indian OilTanking Limited & former Director (Pipelines), IOCL highlighted the need for repair products which take minimum time.  Pipelines, he said are lifelines. The pipeline length in India is rapidly expanding.  The increasing instances of pilferage/rupture also need to be repaired expeditiously he added.
 
Shri Amitabh Sharma highlighted in his presentation the advancements for composite repairs of pipelines which require less time and on the job training as compared to the older approaches of welding by skilled personnel.  Shri Amitabh Sharma, with over two decades experience of oil & gas and IT industry in India and almost a decade in the US, gave details of Cross – link Composite which develops product and services for oil & gas transportation and distribution and combines over six decades experience in resin manufacture.

The lecture aroused considerable interest in the new technology as was evident from the extended question & answer session.
