Generation of power with natural gas as fuel and simultaneous waste heat recovery and its utilisation can be very energy efficient. This was stated by Shri S. K. Manglik, former CMD, ONGC while chairing a lecture by Shri Suresh Mathur, Director, GSPC and former CEO & MD, Petronet LNG Limited organised by PetroFed in its series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership Programmes on May 21, 2010 at New Delhi. Mr. Manglik also advocated geographic distribution of power generation to reduce transmission losses.
In his lecture on ‘Development of Natural Gas Industry in India – Way Forward’ Shri Suresh Mathur gave a brilliant and exhaustive analysis of the international scenario and the emerging Indian dimensions. He called for speedy creation of infrastructure reforms in gas pricing, fiscal reforms and simplification of approval processes.
The keen interest aroused in the subject was evident by the extended Q&A session.
