In its series of Guest Lectures and thought leadership programmes – PetroFed organised a lecture on ‘Preparing for Hydrogen Future' on September 21, 2005 at New Delhi by Mr . Jon Bjorn Skulason, Gen. Manager, M/s. Icelandic New Energy Ltd. , Iceland .

The Icelandic New Energy Ltd. is associated with Ecological City Transport System (ECTOS). As a part of the project hydrogen fuel cell buses are plying in the capital city of Rekjavik . Mr. Skulason who has been associated with these project share his experience and gave details about the infrastructure, fuel cell vehicles, ECTOS goals and also the socio-economic and environmental studies undertaken by him.

Mr. Skulason, presented a road map and gave details on introduction of hydrogen as transportation fuel. His visit to India was the outcome of the visit to Iceland by Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Panchayati Raj, Sh. Mani Shankar Aiyar.

The session was chaired by Dr. P.K. Mukhopadhyay, former Chairman and Director (R&D), IOCL.

There was overwhelming response to the lecture and participants raised a large number of queries to clarify doubts and enquire on how India can move further on the subject on which IOC R&D centre has also undertaken work.

Participants were earlier welcomed by Sh. A.K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed. Sh. R.K. Malhotra, GM, IOC-R&D proposed a vote of thanks.
