The competitiveness of India as a refining hub for the region will depend on its ability to convert cheaper and sour crudes into high value added products. Stating this while chairing a guest lecture on ‘Challenges in Refining’ Mr. A. S. Basu, ED (Operations) at the Refineries Headquarters of IndianOil, added that it was necessary to keep abreast with changing technological innovations.
Organised under PetroFed’s series of Guest Lectures and Though Leadership Programmes, the lecture by Mr. Frederic Morel, Product Line Manager, Axens on June 22, 2010 at New Delhi tracked market trends and challenges and suggested technological solutions. Mr. Morel, who is on a short visit to India and works in the technology Department of Axens, also spoke of squeezing the most from the bottom of the barrel as well as alternative fuels and low carbon technologies.
The lecture aroused tremendous interest in the participants as was evident by the extended Q&A session.
