Maintenance Strategies |
In view of the highly capital intensive nature of the oil & gas industry and the importance of reducing downtime to improve bottom lines, a workshop on ‘Maintenance Strategies’ was organised by PetroFed in association with member company, SAS Institute on February 23, 2010 at New Delhi.
Inaugurating the half-day workshop Shri Mukesh Rohatgi, former CMD, EIL cited parallels from his vast personal experience to nail the importance of condition based monitoring and reliability centered maintenance. Welcoming participants earlier, Shri A. K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed pointed out that 12 billion US Dollars had been invested in exploration & production alone in India as a result of the NELP rounds and that more than two billion dollars are under investment in the downstream sector. Predictive maintenance, he said is, therefore, imperative.
Delivering the theme address, Mr. Frank Mollerop, Global Vice President of SAS Institute based at Norway gave a detailed analysis of international experience of various kinds of assets. The SAS Institute provides a broad range of solutions on business analytics to over 90 customers in the oil & gas sector in 29 countries. By leveraging real-time, critical asset operating information and risk and profitability analysis, companies can develop tailored asset management strategies for optimum business performance, he added.
The two main sessions on Issues and Challenges and Maintenance Solutions were chaired by Mr. H. V. Singh, ED (Projects), IndianOil and Mr. S. C. Mehta, EC (Mumbai Refinery), HPCL respective. There were a total of six speakers during the sessions.
There were intense interactive sessions with each speaker. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Paramjit Singh, National Sales Manager (Oil & Gas), SAS Institute.
