CEO & Directors’ Conclave |
An interactive session of CEOs and Directors in the Energy Sector with Mr. Christof Ruehl, Group chief Economist for BP Plc was organized on August 24, 2009 at New Delhi in knowledge partnership with BP India, a member company of PetroFed. The session was chaired by eminent economist Dr. Vijay L. Kelkar, Chairman, Finance Commission and former Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Welcoming the participants, Chairman, PetroFed & Chairman, IndianOil Sh. Sarthak Behuria dwelt on the global economic and energy situation.
Mr. Christof Ruehl presented to the leaders of Indian energy companies the global energy scenario including supply and demand concerns, pricing, international trading and implications on the major and developing economies of the world. His presentation used the BP Statistical Review of World Energy as a base.
Mr. Christof Ruehl is a distinguished economist who analyses global economic development and their impact on energy markets and provides strategic inputs. He has been professor of economics, has worked in the office of the Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and has also served as the World Bank’s Chief Economist in Russia and Brazil. His presentation was followed by an extended interactive session covering virtually all aspects of the global oil & gas sector.
Dr. Vijay L. Kelkar in his concluding remarks exhorted CEOs to meet more often and deliberate on the energy issues.
