In view of the rapidly growing importance of natural gas in India’s energy mix PetroFed, in its series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership programmes, invited Sh. Vijay Duggal, Dy. General Manager, Commercial (CGD), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. to speak on 'Policy and Regulations on Natural Gas Pipelines - Way Forward' on September 24, 2009 at New Delhi.
Chairing the session, Dr. B. Mohanty, Director, Petroleum & Planning Analyses Cell brought out that natural gas is more abundantly available than crude oil and that there are sufficient indications to suggest that India is endowed with significant reserves of the same. It is, therefore, imperative he added, that a dynamic policy be put in place for efficient utilisation of this vital energy resource.
Mr. Duggal, who has over two decades of rich experience in the oil & gas industry including over a decade in OCC and PPAC and later with the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board, covered the subject exhaustively. He gave gas industry models of various countries, the situation prevalent in India including infrastructure, the regulatory framework and the issues involved in the way forward.
He answered a host of queries with his insight into the development of CGD network and natural gas pipelines regulations at PNGRB.
