" Environmental challenges in Petroleum Industry "

In its series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership Programmes, PetroFed organised a lecture by Prof. Dilip Biswas, Former Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board on ‘Environmental Challenges in Petroleum Industry’ at New Delhi on August 25, 2006.

Introducing the subject and the speaker, Session Chairman, Dr. J.P. Kapur, Trustee, Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust, lauded the significant contribution made by Prof. Dilip Biswas during his stewardship of the Central Pollution Control Board.  Prof. Biswas, he said, has not only been associated with various R&D organisations but has also chaired a host of environmental committees and served as an expert on several UN, South Asian and inter-governmental panels on environment and climate change etc.

Prof. Biswas, in his lecture, comprehensively dealt with the environmental challenges in the petroleum and natural gas industry from drilling to dispensing and petro-chemicals.  He focussed on the key guidelines in each key sector – exploration & production, refining, and petrochemicals.  Each critical aspect of pollution was dealt with in detail.

The lecture elicited tremendous response from senior professionals of the oil and gas sector.
