A three day workshop with theoretical inputs and hands-on working exposure was organised for teaching faculty of Chemical Engineering Departments of Colleges in Gujarat and Process Engineers by PetroFed in association with the Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust in knowledge partnership with Honeywell Automation India Limited from May 28 to 30, 2008 at the Gujarat Refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited who hosted the event.

The residential programme was attended by twenty two teaching faculty members of AICTE approved colleges besides eight Process Engineers.  Inaugurating the programme, Shri A. K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed highlighted the need for enhancing industry academia interface.  The programme covered steady state as well as dynamic process simulation covering presentations and discussions on topics of refinery configuration, planning process, economics and supply chain optimisation besides a visit to the refinery and petrochemical units.

The programme was hailed by the participants as a first of its kind which exposed them to state-of-the-art technologies and provided hands-on exposure through use of Honeywell licensed software.

The participants were welcomed earlier by Shri U. K. Basu, Executive Director (I/C), Gujarat Refinery.  It ended with a panel discussion where experts from Gujarat Refinery and Honeywell answered a host of questions to resolve doubts of participants.
