Higher Enterprise Performance

In the current times which are witnessing a tectonic shift in focus on matters of fiscal prudence & financial management, Indian enterprises have to continually strive for higher performance and make the best use of innovative technology.  Stating this while inaugurating the seminar on ‘Driving Higher Enterprise Performance in Oil & gas Industry’ at New Delhi on May 28, 2009, Mr. Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, IndianOil and Chairman, PetroFed added that enterprise performance incorporates not merely financial excellence but also excellence in technology, risk management and environment management.

The day-long seminar was organised by the Petroleum Federation of India in knowledge partnership with member company SAP India, the world's leading provider of business software solutions.

In his theme address Mr. Ranjan Das, Managing Director, SAP India called for organisations to have a clear visibility of their finances and operations, align production to demand, simulate business models and adopt the concept of clear enterprise with good governance, visibility and sustainability.

The participants were earlier welcomed by Mr. A. K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed, who exhorted for harnessing the tools of technology and systems for solutions to complex problems like management of subsidies in LPG and Kerosene.  It is not uncommon, he said, to find technology and business solutions not being exploited to their full potential in several enterprises.

The panel discussion moderated by Mr. S. V. Narasimhan, Director (Finance), IndianOil witnessed a presentation by Mr. Sanjay Deshmukh, Vice President, SAP India on Driving Higher Enterprise Performance and Financial Excellence in Volatile Times.  It was addressed by Shri B. Mukherjee, Director (Finance), HPCL; Mr. V. Anantharaman, Vice President, HMEL; Mr. Alok Goyal, Vice President, SAP India, besides Mr. Narasimhan.

The three technical sessions were each chaired by Mr. Suresh Mathur, Director (Oil & Gas), Essar Oil; Mr. M. S. Ramachandran, Chairman, Cals Refineries Limited and Mr. D. K. Sarraf, Director (Finance), ONGC respectively.

Each session witnessed extended Q&A interaction.  A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Anoop Srivastava, Director (Oil & Gas and Chemicals), SAP India.
