Sustainability in Oil & Gas |
Sustainable development can be conceptually broken into three constituent parts – environmental, economic and socio-political sustainability. Stating this, Mr. M. A. Pathan, Chairman, Tata Petrodyne and Member of PetroFed’s Governing Council exhorted corporates to step up sustainability reporting in the nature of Triple Bottom Lining reports while inaugurating a workshop on ‘Sustainability in Oil & Gas’ in knowledge partnership with member company, SAP India Limited on May 28, 2010 at New Delhi.
The SAP India, Managing Director, Mr. Peter Gartenberg during his theme address also called for an integrated approach by oil & gas industry to include an operations risk management approach by keeping people, environment and assets safe.
Welcoming participants earlier, Mr. A. K. Arora, Director General, PetroFed suggested that not only should the industry draw up voluntary targets for reducing emissions and energy intensity but also report them publically. Industry, he said, must not be led by legislation but should lead legislation.
The two core sessions which featured four presentations and views of three panelists were chaired by Mr. S. K. Manglik, former CMD, ONGC.
Mr. Anoop Srivastava, Industry Director (Oil & Gas and Chemical), SAP wrapped up the proceedings and proposed a vote of thanks.
