In its continuing endeavour to enhance and upgrade knowledge of teaching faculty, the Petroleum Federation of India in its series of Industry-Academia Interface, organized a three-day residential workshop on Upstream Petroleum Technology jointly with Oil India Limited (OIL) and Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust (LKMT) at OIL Duliajan, Assam from May 30 to June 1, 2011.
The 22 teaching faculty from 11 institutes of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim attended 21 technical sessions imparted by experts in oil & gas. They were taken on a day’s field visit to a drilling site and an Oil Collecting Station.
Welcoming participants, Shri K.K. Nath, Resident Chief Executive (I/C) OIL during the inaugural session elaborated on the challenges being faced by the oil & gas industry and highlighted the importance of such workshops for upgradation of knowledge and technology to meet these challenges.
During the valedictory address Shri B.N. Talukdar, Director (E&D), OIL lauding the role of the teaching community globally stated that the industry and academia cannot live in isolation and have to move together. He recapitulated efforts by OIL to increase awareness of the challenges in the oil & gas sector and stressed on the vast scope of the sector where engineers from all branches are employed.
The participants related the programme effectiveness at 83%.
