In its series of thought leadership programmes PetroFed organised a workshop on Corporate Sustainability Reporting and Corporate Governance on September 30, 2005 at New Delhi . PetroFed member company Ernst & Young were the knowledge partner for this workshop.
Sh. Dipankar Ghosh, Sr. Manager, E&Y in his presentation developed a business case for Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSR) incorporating integration and reporting of information across three broad dimensions of sustainability, namely, environmental, social and economic. He brought out how this can also be used as a tool for understanding and mitigation of risks and improving corporate performance in these areas.
Sh. Raju Lal, Associate Director, E&Y in his presentation on Corporate Governance traced the history of the revised clause 49 of SEBI guidelines and explained the key changes pertaining to Board, Audit Committee and subsidiaries, risk management, CEOs/CFOs certification, enhanced disclosures and the penalties for non-compliance.
There was intense debate and lively discussion during the question & answer session, particularly from former CEOs and CFOs like Sh. S.C. Mathur, Adviser, Essar Oil and former MD, Petronet LNG Ltd.; Sh. S.K. Manglik, former CMD, ONGC; and Sh. B.D. Gupta, former Director (F), IOCL.
