CEOs conclave on ‘Private Sector in the Oil Economy of India ' |
To take stock of the significant role played by the Private Sector in the Oil Economy of India, understand its strengths, constraints being faced by the competing organisations, and review the facilitation required from the Government a CEOs conclave was organised by PetroFed on July 7, 2005 at New Delhi with the Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Panchayati Raj, Sh. Mani Shankar Aiyar in the chair.
The inaugural address was delivered by the Secretary, MoP&NG Sh.S.C. Tripathi. It was attended by 44 CEOs and senior executives from the private sector besides those from key public sector undertakings like IOCL, ONGC, OIL, BPCL & HPCL, officials of the MoP&NG and organisations under the MoP&NG like DGH, OIDB, PCRA, CHT and PPAC.
Presentations were made by Reliance Industries, Shell India, British Gas, Cairn Energy, Essar Oil, Schlumberger, Premier Oil, Jubilant and Jindal Drilling. Each presentation of about 15 minutes was followed by a 20 minute in-depth discussion on the issues raised.
As a result of the discussions, reports will be prepared on suggestions on revamping the E&P policy, making India into a export oriented refining hub, defining corporate social responsibility in the sensitive areas of petroleum marketing, best practice for technical valuation for services providers and optimum well recovery rate. Papers are also likely to emerge on how to get international majors to come to India in upstream and downstream areas and the desirability of hiving off Services by public sector E&P companies.
The conclave was a follow up on the earlier meeting organised by PetroFed in the presence of the Hon'ble Minister on March 10 ,2005 when presentations were made by RIL, BG, GDF and Prize Petroleum.
