The  Governing  Council  of Petroleum  Federation  of  India at  its  12th  meeting on December 21, 2006  approved  five  applications  for  membership  of  PetroFed namely –  M/s. Schlumberger Asia Services Ltd., Naftogaz India Pvt. Ltd., Shell India Pvt. Ltd., Cairn India Ltd., and BP India Services Pvt. Ltd.  With this, the membership of PetroFed goes up to 43.  

Kochi Refineries Limited has ceased to be a member as it stands merged with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. M/s. IBP Ltd. has also ceased to be a member as it is in the process of merger with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

While taking note of the rapid increase in activities undertaken by PetroFed in terms of various study reports and industry issues taken up with Government, the Governing Council decided to release the latest study on ‘The Green Imperative : Future of Natural Gas in India’, spanning a 25-year time frame till 2030, during Petrotech-2007 in January 2007.

It was noted by the Governing Council that the following two reports were also under finalisation:

1. Industry survey of views on ‘regulations for the refining, processing, storage, transportation, marketing and distribution and sale of petroleum products India’.
2. Review of Domestic Regulations in the Petroleum Industry for Conformity with General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).

The Governing Council also approved institution of PetroFed Awards for which details will  be worked out.
